The union headquarters of IG Metall, the "Century House," lies on Alleestraße near downtown Bochum. The design is for two opposing building rows from north to south connected by a transparent hall. The external appearance is determined by clinker masonry with a punctuated facade or, rather, by an aluminium glass face in the inside of the glass hall. The union headquarters of IG Metall looks like an open hand. This structure itself symbolises many things, such as a protective or hard-working hand.
